| The Yorkie Hunter |

![]() My bird hunter Fifi I did not doubt that, because my mixed breed Fifi, which is part terrier, brought me little "offerings" since she was a puppy. There would be crickets, worms, little rocks, a tiny mouse and even a leech. Her biggest catch ever were two birds. Don't get me wrong, I love birds, but these particular ones were flying in everyday and eating the dogs kibble. Fifi would have none of it. I tried to pry her mouth open when she caught one, but she would not budge. I had to release her when she started biting into me (and I could feel her teeth slicing into my fingers). With this background, I was not surpised that Chiqui, my purebreed Yorkshire Terrier, liked to chase little things, like cockroaches and salamanders. What I did not expect, was him bringing them to MY BED (still alive) and playing catch and release with the little creatures!!!!!!! I guess it is one of the joys of having a terrier in your household. Fortunately, Chiqui cannot jump into my bed unless I have a step there, so as soon as I see him hunting a cockroach I take the step away from the bed. I don't mind my dogs and cat sleeping with me, but I do not enjoy little critters in there. |
