Important Yorkshire Terrier Grooming Information By Susan Bailey

Yorkshire Terriers make wonderful pets. They are small and so they are easy to pick up and get around, but they also make great watchdogs. They are obviously quite fragile and therefore are not the best protectors, but they are always alert and will notify you if there is any movement or noises that you may not be able to hear yourself. They truly make wonderful pets, even if there are children in the home.

They should be trained, just as with any other type of dog, but as long as you give them proper obedience training when they are young they will make not only an ideal pet but also a great companion. Just keep in mind that Yorkshire Terrier grooming is often considered as being a downfall to this breed, as they require a great deal more care and maintenance. As long as you are going to be willing and able to make time for this however, you should have no problems.

Chiqui, my Yorkshire TerrierLast year I came to the conclusion that my dear yorkie "Chiqui" would never be able to hop onto the furniture like my mix breed Fifi.  It was a dissapointment because I love the structure and face of the yorkie breed, which translates into the fact that I want MORE of them.

But it is always wonderful to have them hop onto the bed or the sofa (in my house they are allowed to do that, so long as they dont pee on the furniture).  Chiqui likes to sleep next  to me in my lounging chair, where I usually work.  Its big enough for both of us and I can pet him whenever I want, but I always have to pull him up.
